TransparenCY – Enhancing Transparency in the Legislative Process in Cyprus

About the Project

TransparenCY Project is funded by the European Union under the PLACE in Cyprus Small Grants Programme and implemented by Global Policies Centre and Oxygen for Democracy. Launched on 4 March 2025, the project sought to challenge the culture of opacity in Cyprus and promote a participatory, accountable, and democratic society.

The message of our project is clear: To empower citizens to follow, understand, and actively participate in decision-making processes, ensuring governance is not just for the people but also by the people.

TransparenCY Closing Event – 25 July 2025

We successfully held the TransparenCY Final Event: Enhancing Transparency in Cyprus at the Citizens in Power Amphitheater. Co-organized by Oxygen for Democracy and Global Policies Centre, under the PLACE in Cyprus Small Grants Programme and funded by the European Union, the event brought together stakeholders committed to strengthening transparency, accountability, and civic participation in Cyprus. Together, we reflected on the project’s outcomes, shared lessons learned, and explored pathways for deeper institutional openness.

While the TransparenCY project officially concluded, its impact continues. The experience revealed strong public demand for greater openness, participatory governance, and lasting peace built on accountability.
